Since our inception, the Santa Ana Public Library and Anaheim Public Library branches have helped support the mission of CodingtoAll. These library systems have provided us with a welcoming and accommodating space, allowing us to teach library attendees weekly over the Zoom platform. Through this collaboration, we have had the privilege of engaging with students spanning a wide spectrum of ages and backgrounds which has ultimately created a diverse and enriching interactive experience that has significantly contributed to our mission.
We had the privilege of traveling to India during the summer of 2023 to teach students from rural communities more about computer science and digital security. CodingToAll was able to raise over $10k to donate PCs and other computer equipment to students at the secondary school depicted above. We were also able to partner with these students and introduce them to computer science.
We were able to go to our partner library, Anaheim Library - Sunkist Branch, and conduct an in person orientation and workshop in which we presented CodingToAll, talking about our mission, program, and how to sign up. We also conducted a coding-themed scavenger hunt game in which we introduced concepts like binary, and If-Else statement logic all in a fun and interactive game.
Today, we were able to go to an elementary school in Irvine, California called Springbrook Elementary. Here we were able to give an orientation and do a fun activity with a 4/5th grade class. We handed out fliers to all the kids too with CodingToAll's website, instagram, and sign up link information. We also gave fliers to the front office hand out. The kids really enjoyed the activity and we hope they particpate in our coding sessions!
